It seems like an eternity ago when the original Mass Effect game made a significant contribution to the gaming industry. We all had our challenges; some of us had trouble winning the battle system, catching aliens, waiting for the loading screen to go, and managing the weapons, but it was still a fantastic game. BioWare created a handful of excellent games to match the traditional mass effects in the past decade. The resultant results were poor, and the sequels were damaged as a result (especially Andromeda). They performed a terrific job, despite the fact that the amazing sex scenes, character-building benefits, and dynamic setting were carried ahead to reach the objectives.
Not to mention, following the less-than-stellar launch of Andromeda, BioWare has enraged a lot of prospective consumers. It was glitchy, buggy, and strewn with poor decisions.
So, if you’ve arrived here, it’s because you’re searching for something as hot and engaging as a traditional mass effect to satisfy your cravings. The titles listed below are sufficient to achieve the goals and are a close replica of the Mass Effect series.

The Witcher 3
Date of Publication | 19th of May, 2015 |
Platforms | PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC |
Genres | Open World action role-playing game |
Developers | CD Projekt RED, CD Projekt |
Publisher | CD Projekt RED, CD Projekt |
Overall Score | 9.3 out of 10 (IGN) |
CD Projekt is well-known for its groundbreaking releases. The amount of time it takes to get the game out there is enormous. The sequel to the Witcher series took them around four years to complete. New features and a breath-taking landscape have been added to the game. The events of Witcher 2 are proposed in this game in a major timeframe. When comparing Mass Effect 3 to The Witcher 3, both games offer unique features that make them stand out in their own own. The butterfly effect, for example, was subtly included into both of the names. This implies that the decisions you make will affect your development.
You may explore an interesting and beautiful world in Witcher 3. To explore the huge globe, complete a mosaic of side missions in addition to the main. You may make new weapons, drink potions, fight monsters, and fall in love with Triss and Yennefer.
Witcher 3 has a unique bartending and trading system, which surprised us. You may join factions to participate in political debates and assist NPCs in achieving their goals. The whole world of Witcher 3 seems to revolve on Geralt of Rivia (protagonist). I recall playing the game for more over 70 hours, including DLC. For the record, this says a lot about how completely immersed I was in the fictitious world of Witcher 3.
The melee fighting is quite similar to that of Mass Effect; nevertheless, the combat method is completely different: how are guns and swords related, huh?
Overall, if you like romance, world exploration, and role-playing games, Witcher 3 is the game for you.
Final Fantasy 15
Date of Publication | 29 November 2016 |
Platforms | PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC |
Genre | Role-playing game with action |
Developers | Streamline Studios, Square Enix, XPEC Entertainment, Umbra |
Publisher | Square Enix |
Overall Score | 8.2 out of 10 (IGN) |
Japanese role-playing games have reinforced their market position, and the latest chapter in the long-awaited Final Fantasy series is no exception. The comparison of Final Fantasy 15 to Mass Effect is a potential in terms of narrative entanglement, character growth, and planet exploration. Some games, such as Mass Effect, feature a tightly controlled storyline in which the results are hinted at in the prologue. In Final Fantasy 15, on the other hand, you must weave your way through a succession of obstacles in order to finish the untold story. You make the decisions, and the end result is unavoidable.
The hypnotic beauty of the environment in which you play with Noctis, the main protagonist, is very appreciated, giving Shepard from Mass Effect a run for his money. The emotional high generated by Final Fantasy 15’s never-ending adventure is what qualifies it for the award.
You may also customize your avatar, clothing, battle-weapons, elixirs, emotes, romance styles (yes, a Mass Effect aspect), and, most importantly, your characters. The game begins with a shocking cliffhanger, making the story twisted and intriguing.
Furthermore, the camaraderie that has developed between you and your incredible pals is a sight to see. You have complete control over the conversations and decisions that develop the story according to your preferences and assist you in getting the most out of the game. Final Fantasy 15 is a calming game with a high score. If you’re a die-hard fan of games like Mass Effect or even the original, this game is tailor-made for you. It was a roller-coaster ride for me the whole time.
Borderlands 3

Platforms | Operating systems: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Google Stadia, and Macintosh |
Genres | First-person shooter, action role-playing game |
Developers | Software by Gearbox |
Publisher | 2K Games |
Overall Score | 9.0 out of ten (IGN) |
When you consider why Borderlands 3 came in third on the list, the explanation is straightforward. In terms of red zones, locations, fighting style, weaponry, conversations, and extraterrestrial connections, borderlands 3 is an exact clone of Mass Effect. You’ll hear expletives like “F*ck off!”
That’s what I’m talking about when I say “mass effect.”
Above all, it’s an RPG in which you take control of several viewpoints and storylines while exploring a huge imaginary universe. The game’s mechanics and aesthetics, however, have received mixed reviews. People have been spontaneously combusting for no apparent cause. I’d like to point out that not everyone has the same palate. I really liked the game, particularly the epic slurring that had accompanied me for more than 50 hours.
In terms of Borderlands 3’s interactive system, you may gather as many goods as possible from the locations you’ve conquered. Due to the fractured structure, such regions are not completely wiped away. The greatest thing about the game is that you are always accompanied by a devoted companion.
Is this a case of “claptrap”? Yes, absolutely!
Furthermore, although some games, such as Mass Effect, may not have an alien aspect, Borderlands 3 surprised us by adding extraterrestrial monsters to make the game more terrifying. Grab the game right now if you’re like aliens (not sexually).
Anthem
Date of Publication | January 25th, 2019 |
Platforms | PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC |
Genres | Shooter game, action role-playing game |
Developers | BioWare Austin LLC, BioWare |
Publisher | Electronic Arts (EA) is a video game (EA) is a video game (EA) is a video game (EA) is a video game |
Overall Score | 4 out of 5 (Common Sense Media) |
Anthem was yet another shoddy BioWare release, which isn’t surprising given how inept the studio can be at times. Despite this, a few aspects like as the storyline, multiplayer, and open-world make the game fall to fourth place.
The narrative is set in a fictitious universe where you may choose between four sides to play with. Those four distinct factions each have their own set of traits and talents that you may show off. The characters seem to be fascinating, particularly when coupled with the game’s breathtaking setting. The game is strictly online, and you may play with up to three other people at any time. Complete the game in co-op mode and evenly divide the battle loot.
Not to mention that the game is built on futuristic algorithms in which the region has been overrun by robot-like monsters. Your goal is to eliminate your foes while maintaining the peace flag. When it comes to conversation, it does influence your narrative to some degree, but not nearly as much as mass impact. While conversing with NPCs and your pals, you may still have a good time.
Furthermore, if you are just interested in weapons and want to explore the huge globe to your heart’s content, this game is for you. The optimization may have been hindered by the immediate release, but the graphics, animation, and cliffhangers are worth a try, in my opinion. Believe me when I say that it is deserving of the fourth spot on the list.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Date of Publication | August 23rd, 2016 |
Platforms | Operating systems: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Google Stadia, and Macintosh |
Genres | First-person shooter, stealth game, action role-playing game |
Developers | Eidos-Montreal, Feral Interactive, Nixxes Software BV |
Publisher | Feral Interactive, Square Enix |
Overall Score | 9.2 out of 10 (IGN) |
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is the follow-up to the visually stunning “Human Revolution.” In mid-2016, the Mankind Divided made its debut. The plot focuses on a new AI (Artificial Intelligence) breakout that causes havoc. To deal with the circumstances, the main protagonist goes out into the realm of darkness and mystery. It’s enormous, considering the game’s resemblance to Mass Effect. Significantly, the open-world environment provided the players with complex choices that shaped the story.
Surprisingly, the creators gave Adam Jenson machine-like advantages so that he might have a machine-like experience. You may use electrocution characteristics, hacking tools, and other skills to catch your opponent off guard. The interactive mechanism that has been included into the game is incredible. You can utilize the surroundings to your advantage. For example, I recall teleporting to one of the windows above me and disappearing into thin air. So, if your character is on alert and you want to get rid of it, utilize the surroundings to your advantage.
To get to your destination, you may be necessary to blend in at times. The system’s suggested stealth mode is appealing. To find what you’re searching for, you’ll have to go past potholes, windows, and doors. Let’s pretend you’re playing Mass Effect again, and you have the option of choosing between two fighting styles: stealth or open. Pick your poison carefully!
If you like the Mass Effect narrative, Mankind Divided is the game for you. However, if you’re playing this game because EA is behind it, you’re in severe need of assistance!
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Date of Publication | November 15th, 2019 |
Platforms | Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC |
Genre | This is an action-adventure game. |
Developers | Respawn Entertainment is a company that creates video games. |
Publisher | Electronic Arts |
Overall Score | 9.0 out of ten (IGN) |
What a fantastic game! The newest entry in the Star Wars universe is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. They developed a game with a full single player version after the previous two Battlefront releases. Battlefront fans know what it’s like to play multiplayer, but if you’re a new player who hasn’t heard of Star Wars, this game is a great fit for you. It does not require prior knowledge of earlier versions, so as long as you can survive, it is ideal.
The question is, how does this game compare to Mass Effect? The solution is straightforward. When you examine the gameplay of both games, you’ll see that they follow a similar combat, narrative, and character development pattern. Shepard goes through a sequence of complexities to fend off his adversary in Mass Effect. In Star Wars, the main character performs the same thing. All you have to do now is gain experience points and improve your partner’s and your own abilities in the same manner.
Not to add that this game makes equal use of firearms and swords, while Mass Effect is entirely focused on the concept of utilizing future technology. This is another game to add to your collection if you consider yourself a hunter and explorer with stealth abilities.
… Have fun with lightsabers; trust me, they’re a lot of fun!
Inquisition is a Dragon Age game.
Date of Publication | November 18, 2014 |
Platforms | PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC |
Genre | Role-playing game with action |
Developers | BioWare |
Publisher | Electronic Arts |
Overall Score | 9.0 out of ten (Game Spot) |
If you’re searching for a mass effect-style game, Dragon Age: Inquisition is exactly what you’re seeking for right now. You might argue it’s one of EA’s games that isn’t totally screwed up. When critical critique is applied, both games have strengths and faults, but Dragon Age: Inquisition has that aura that may forcibly make you surrender to the infinite realm of dragons.
It’s a game in which fantastical components are mashed together to the point that you feel as if you’re living in a magical world. You may direct the storyline via conversations, romance with other NPCs and characters, joining clans, forming a group, using magic, killing animals, and, most importantly, hunting dragons. You may create new weapons and gain various magical characteristics through hunting. In a nutshell, Dragon Age: Inquisition provides a comprehensive look at the game’s mystical universe.
You may take on the role of a Qunari! Isn’t that ridiculous?…
Furthermore, the Dragon Age will have an effect that will endure for years. You may interact with the environment as needed, which is also true in the case of mass effect. Fortunately, strange conversations were purposefully hammered by the creators, so it seems more natural. It is, without a doubt, a mass impact sister game. I also had a good time playing with female warriors and wizards. They have a lance that can fire anomalous magical shards, and opponents are instantly killed. If you like mages and witches, then you should be playing Dragon Age: Inquisition right now.
Infinite Bioshock
Date of Publication | 26th of March, 2013 |
Platforms | PC, Linux, Xbox 360, PS3, Macintosh Operating Systems |
Genre | Shooter in the first person |
Developers | Virtual Programming, Irrational Games, 2K Marin, 2K Australia, Aspyr, Irrational Games |
Publisher | 2K Games |
Overall Score | 9.4 out of 10 (IGN) |
In Bioshock: Infinite, Booker Dewitt was a new playable character with an unique storyline. No one has ever seen such an intriguing storyline in their gaming lives, it was said. One of the reasons for the 9.4 out of 10 rating is because of this. Why am I seeing parallels between this game and Mass Effect? In both games, the graphics and narrative direction are crucial. The emotional anguish that the player must through while completing the narrative is tolerable. As an investigator, you immerse yourself in Columbia, and the roller coaster ride begins.
Despite the fact that BioShock Infinite is the third entry in the BioShock series, it is often regarded as the finest. The classic prequels are unrivaled and excellent for their eras, but when it comes to games like Mass Effect vs. current releases, Bioshock: Infinite is the clear winner. If you aren’t, you are committing a sin!
Well, there is a magical aspect to this game, as the player character may utilize elixirs to enhance his or her chances of winning against the odds. You may command a colossal bird while surrounded by a stunning beauty. Elizabeth is her name. It’s a one-of-a-kind tale that centers on Booker and Elizabeth. Are you sure you don’t want to miss it?
You may choose from a variety of weaponry when it comes to fighting style, which is also true in Mass Effect.
Overall, why haven’t you played BioShock yet if you’re a big fan of Mass Effect? Don’t be shy; it’s waiting for you!
Rage
Date of Publication | November 17th, 2010 |
Platforms | Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Macintosh Operating Systems, Windows PC, and iOS |
Genres | List of vehicle combat games in first person shooter mode. |
Developers | Id Software is a kind of identification software. |
Publisher | Bethesda Softwar Bethesda Softwar Bethesda |
Overall Score | 4 out of 5 (Common Sense Media) |
The title “Rage” says it all. It’s a whole new game set in a fictional universe. If you compare the plotlines of Mass Effect and Rage, you could assume that they are poles different. Mass Effect is a basic Sci-Fi action game, while Rage is a horror game. However, there are certain aspects that appear in both titles. To begin with, you have complete control over the storylines. It is completely up to you to decide which path you will follow.
Rage is a hybrid of two top genres: first-person shooters and racing games. You may combine the game’s two most important elements to create an amazing jewel. These cars may help you win against the odds. You can kill your opponents by running over them; it’ll be a massacre. You may also embark on monster hunts to clear up monster zones. Both your weaponry and the parked cars may be upgraded.
Surprisingly, the game failed to attract many consumers, but trust me when I say that you will fall head over heals for this one. Take my word for it!
Andromeda is a game in the Mass Effect franchise.
Date of Publication | March 21st, 2017 |
Platforms | PS4, Xbox One, PC |
Genre | Role-playing game with action |
Developers | BioWare |
Publisher | Electronic Arts |
Overall Score | 7.7 out of 10 (IGN) |
There are games like Mass Effect Andromeda, but this is the original, and I’m afraid to report it didn’t live up to the hype. You’re probably asking why I included such a poorly optimized game in my top ten list. There’s a big reason behind that, and it has to do with franchise devotion. You must be aware of how massive the first episode was. Unfortunately, the creators failed to meet expectations with the last two installments, resulting in the franchise’s eventual demise. Let’s pretend that didn’t happen. Regardless of how bad the Andromeda was, the game’s fans prevented it from being a flop.
This sequel takes place in the Andromeda Galaxy and follows a new and distinct chronology. As usual, the story is controlled by the conversations and decisions you make along the journey. But what distinguishes this game from the others? It’s a revolutionary battle system that allows you to utilize skills more often and with little to no mana depletion.
Not to add, you have the freedom to freestyle in any way you choose. You have complete control over how you eliminate opponents. In the Co-op portion of EA’s multiplayer game, you may now play with more than four characters. Surprisingly, the romance option is still there, and you may see several romantic moments; what a wonderful sight!
If you like engrossing narrative stories, Andromeda is the game for you. It’s worth a try, especially with the components from the prequels.
Summing-up
If you’re still undecided, I suggest starting with The Witcher 3 since it’s an amazing game to begin with. Playing Witcher 3 will give you a head-to-head experience of Mass Effect. Not to add, these Mass Effect-like games have a sizable following, which means you can communicate with them through Discord and other noteworthy apps. Furthermore, these games were only included after a thorough examination of many forums and blogs. People have been requesting it, so I figured why not include other games like Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3? After then, you may choose any game from the list at random. They’re all noteworthy in their own right. Best of luck, and have fun smashing enemies in games like Mass Effect 3.
