ASRock currently offers a number of excellent motherboards for Ryzen CPUs, particularly with its B350 chipset, but it has now announced a new motherboard with the X370 chipset, which will be available in early March. This motherboard is an X370 Pro4 that will work with any Ryzen CPU and, once the Ryzen APUs are available, you may use it with those new APUs.
The board falls into the budget group, and although it may not be ideal for overclocking, it should be capable of handling mid-high-end components. The board includes a 9-phase VRM with decent and “OK-OK” heatsinks, similar to those found on most ASRock motherboards. With a decent aftermarket CPU cooling and 9 power phase, you can properly overclock any Ryzen processor, but don’t expect to break any records.
The board includes 4 DIMM slots that enable DDR4 memory with a speed of up to 3200MHz, which is adequate but not exceptional. AMD Two Way CrossfireX is supported by two PCI-Ex 16 slots. There are a total of 4x PCIx 1 slots available between them for sound/wifi cards. There are two M.2 slots for NVME SSDs, which may be utilized for rapid storage.
Aesthetically, it’s quite standard, with a black PCB and white accents. There are no inbuilt troubleshooting buttons, however considering the price, this should not be a problem. The board costs 95 Euros, which is a very reasonable and affordable price.
