A lot of DayZ tips and tricks that people don’t let you know about. But since I know a lot, I’m going to share them with you all.

DayZ is a PC game that has been around for awhile, but only recently has it become popular on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the Steam platform in general. The game is an online survival game that focuses on realism, since you are not fighting zombies, but rather a real infection of the zombie virus. The game has been plagued with many complaints about not many people being able to get their hands on the game, but that is starting to change.

DayZ is an early access zombie survival game that came out on the PC in December of 2013. It’s very popular, but in this article I’m going to show you how to get the most out of DayZ with some easy and efficient tips and tricks that you may not know about.

Here are some DayZ Standalone hints, tips, and techniques to assist you in getting started and surviving the game.

– Helpful Hints –

• To stop bleeding, look for shirts that can be ripped into rags that will stop the bleeding. To do so, right-click a shirt and choose “tear into rags.” Rags may be stacked in your inventory up to six times, so combine them by hovering them over other rags to conserve space.

  (Note: You must re-join the server to stop your character from making moaning sounds after bandaging a wound.)

• Using your flashlight – You are given a flashlight (torch) and a battery when you initially spawn. Drag the battery over the flashlight in your inventory (TAB), then click combine. You may now drag the flashlight onto your hotbar and activate it by pressing SPACE BAR to remove it and then F twice to turn it on.

  Be aware that flashlights are presently extremely simple to detect (they can be seen through walls), so only use them when absolutely necessary. Someone will shoot you on sight if you go about with a flashlight on all the time.

• Using the SPACE BAR to raise and lower your weapon – As mentioned in the last tip, the SPACE BAR may be used to raise and lower whatever is in your hands. When moving around with a weapon, lowering it enables you to move quicker while still having the ability to swiftly raise it if you see another player.

  Running about with a raised weapon is a certain way to be murdered on the spot, so keep it down to seem less menacing. You will also stop sprinting if you swap your weapon/item while it is up. You’ll keep sprinting if you do it when the weapon/item is down.

• • Vaulting – To vault over and climb over obstacles, press V.
  • Hold down the right mouse button to zoom in and gain a better perspective of your surroundings. You may zoom in even further with a long range scope by holding right click after zooming in using the scope.
  • Holding ALT while sprinting allows you to glance around without altering direction. You should use this to check your surroundings on a regular basis, since someone may be lurking around every corner.
  • Zeroing in and out – You may zero in or out your weapon for better range accuracy with certain of the weaponry. On the M4, for example, the default number is 200, as seen in the upper right corner of your UI.

    This range is ideal for fighting at near to medium ranges. By using the PG UP and PG DOWN buttons on your keyboard, you may adjust the zeroing.

  • Double-clicking things allows you to loot far quicker than dragging each item into your inventory.
  • If the doors of a building are open, it has already been robbed.
  • Looting from the start – It’s better to start looting inland when you first spawn. Loot is scarce in the first towns due to the presence of many robbers and other players. Finding a town to pillage and following a route inland may be the best choice.
  • Loot is difficult to view – Unlike the DayZ mod, loot in this game is often difficult to see. (Especially ammunition.) When looting, double-check everything. Some treasure may spawn beneath beds or shelves, as well as on top.
  • If you can’t locate one or the other, keep in mind that you may drink something to quench your hunger and eat something to quench your thirst. Obviously, the impact is reduced, but if you’re hungry and all you have is soda, drinking the soda will help you feel less hungry.
  • If you can’t locate any food in the wild, keep in mind that a recent update adds berries that you may harvest from plants throughout Chernarus. Find medium-sized shrubs and squat near them for shelter, then press F to hunt for berries. You have the option of searching numerous times. You may also look for apples in apple trees.
  • Management of ammo – You don’t need to carry a lot of clips in your inventory. One or two clips should enough, and if you discover more, drag them into your inventory and right-click them to empty the ammunition and discard the empty mag.

    You may store ammunition in an ammo box and load ammo directly into your magazine by disconnecting the magazine from your inventory and dragging the ammo over it. You can save a lot of space this way. Also, locate a 60 clip, put your ammunition into it, then empty it to make larger ammo stacks. In your inventory, you should have a stack of 60 bullets.

  • Ammunition boxes, medication boxes, and protector cases – Ammunition boxes, medical boxes, and protector cases allow you to carry additional treasure. To use one, click the X in your inventory to put whatever is currently in your hands away, then drag the box into your hands.

    At the bottom, the contents of the box will be shown. When dragging the box into “vicinity,” be cautious not to lose it if the server restarts at the same time. (At the moment, servers restart without notice.)

  • Exploring without a map in Chernarus can soon get you lost in this game. To access a map, press shift + tab and search for the “DayZ Essentials Map” under the steam overlay’s instructions section. You may also look at the map by clicking here.
  • Improving frame rate – Go to Documents > DayZ and open DayZ.cfg in Notepad. Then change GPU_MaxFramesAhead and GPU_DetectedFramesAhead to = 1. Disabling ambient occlusion, and lowering object detail is also great for increasing your framerate. Scene complexity can also be huge in improving your framerate.

    In order to change this, go to Documents > DayZ > Your computers Profile Name, and then open the first file (your profile name) in notepad. Look for sceneComplexity, and change it to around 100000 – 150000 for a big FPS boost. (Mine is currently set at sceneComplexity=130000)

    Please keep in mind that this setting may change in the future.

  • Alt+tab warning: If you alt tab with a weapon in your hand, your weapon will fire on its own, giving away your location.

• • Don’t be fooled: getting a gun in DayZ is now simpler than obtaining ammunition. As a result, some individuals may attempt to hold you up with these weapons if they don’t have any ammunition. Thankfully, you can determine whether or not a person’s firearm has a clip. When a gun has a clip, it will protrude somewhat from the bottom.
  • Handcuffing – To handcuff someone, take the handcuffs in your hands, approach them from behind, and press F.
  • Stealth – This may seem self-evident, but it’s worth mentioning: while running about, avoid jogging on highways and out in the open, keep to tree lines to avoid exposing yourself, and hug walls when exploring.

    Also, before you go in to a town to investigate, check the area from the outside to see whether anybody else is looting the area. Getting the jump on someone is the most essential tool for survival in DayZ most of the time.

  • Killing zombies – In DayZ, zombies may be very dangerous. When attempting to kill a zombie, always aim for the head, since even with only your fists, a few strong punches to the head may take a zombie down. By seeing how a zombie dropped to the ground, you may determine whether or not it is dead.

    It’s still alive if it’s face down, and it’s dead if it’s face up. The Fire Axe is presently the greatest weapon for killing zombies; it kills them in one hit with no need for a headshot. It’s important to note that this is not the same as a normal axe.

  • Getting away from zombies – Getting away from zombies may be difficult in recent versions since they move fast and can catch up to you quickly if you slow down. Running through structures is an excellent method to get rid of zombies. Because zombies can only go inside buildings, it’s a fantastic method to get rid of them.
  • If you’re having difficulty swinging your axe, it’s possible that it’s in the incorrect position. To adjust your posture, press the spacebar once and then try swinging. (Holding the axe on your left instead of up high is the proper posture; the other position causes you to block.)

• If your character is thirsty, look for water pumps in each city or village.

  

  You may drink by pressing F repeatedly until your character’s state shows that you are full.

  Drink in moderation, since too much may cause you to vomit and perhaps get unwell. You may also fill water bottles or canteens at a water pump by dragging them into your hands and then scrolling to “Fill Bottle” next to the water pump with your mouse.

• Food dehydrates you – Keep in mind that certain meals, such as rice, dehydrate you. As a result, it’s recommended to eat before drinking.
• Food that has gone bad – Don’t eat any rotting food since it will make you sick right away. If you get unwell, you will begin to vomit. After that, drink some water and lie down for a few minutes (by hitting Z) to recuperate. It’s possible that you’ll pass out and die.
• Low blood – You can determine whether you’re low on blood by glancing at the colors on your screen. You’ll need blood if they’re washed out and grey. When your screen is bright and vivid, it indicates you have a lot of blood on your hands.
• Sprinting – Constant sprinting causes you to get dehydrated and hungry quicker.
• Healthy state – When your character eats and drinks enough, the inventory status will change to “healthy.” This indicates that your health and blood are being replenished.

  Eating a lot of food and then drinking a lot of water at a water pump until your character is full is an excellent method to accomplish this. (On the bottom left of your screen, you’ll notice a notification that says “I’m fully filled.”)

• If your character complains that their head aches, have them drink some water or take some pain relievers.
• Opening food cans – Some foods need the use of a can opener, but you can also open them with knives, axes, and other instruments. Although using a can opener is preferable since no food is lost.
• Broken Leg Splint – You may also build a splint out of rags or bandages to help mend a broken leg. To make a splint, you’ll need some sticks (not wood) and three rags.
• Respawning – Climbing up to a big hill or building and jumping off is the greatest method to kill your character and restart for whatever reason.

• Navigating at night – At night, the star constellations may be used to locate north. The North Star is pointed directly towards by two stars from the Big Dipper.
• During the day, the wind usually blows east, so keep an eye out for cloud movement.
• Use road signs – Every town and city has a road sign at the entrance, so check for the signs and then go to the map to locate your position.
• Compass tip: You may examine the compass in your inventory by right-clicking it and inspecting it instead of pulling it out, moving to first person, and then raising it.
