I’m going to do something I don’t think I’ve done in a while: take an extended look back at the Battlefield series of games. I’ve outlined all the Battlefield games released since 2002, right down to the upcoming Battlefield 5 (at least until the next Battlefield game comes out, of course). This is a massive undertaking, and I’m not sure how successful I’ll be in keeping my intro short and concise, but I’m going to try.

There’s no point in listing the first game in a list and using the last one to close the conclusion. So, here is a complete list of all Battlefield games in order. This list is a nice way to see which games are popular and which aren’t.

Battlefield is an extremely popular game series. With many different releases over the years, there is a lot of data that can be collected about how the game has evolved. With this data, the next step is to try and create a grand infographic that compares the game series to each other across all releases.

Due to the popularity of the original Battlefield game, EA added more and more successors to the series, making most Games that take place on battlegrounds a great hit and favorite among fps fans.

As a Battlefield 4 is a first-person shooter that was fan, I couldn’t overlook the reality that the newer Battlefield games’ better mechanics and gameplay are owing to the fact that the earlier Battlefield games were ahead of their time, resulting in the series’ popularity, which fans still enjoy today.

So, here are all of the Battlefield games in chronological sequence, beginning with their release date and ending with how they began.

In chronological sequence, all Battlefield games

Battlefield 1942 is number one.

 Battlefield 1942

Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment created the original Battlefield game, which was released by EA in 2002 for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS. Warplanes, tanks, artillery, jeeps, submarines, and machine guns from World War II may all be used in Battlefield 1942. If you look carefully at the game, you’ll see a lot of parallels between it and the current Battlefield games.

Both the single-player and multiplayer modes were enjoyable, and the multiplayer feature is still active after two decades. The visuals are quite comparable to some of the FPS games from the period, such as Medal of Honour, Call of Duty, Desert Storm, and others, but the gameplay is superior owing to the variety of things you can do with your guys.

It gives you one of the positions in Scout, Assault, Anti-Tank, Medic, and Engineer, similar to the game Hell Let Loose, which is still one of the active elements in current Battlefield games. Some people believe it still has the greatest features that a Battlefield game can provide, and they haven’t given up on it yet.

#2. Vietnam’s Battlefield

Battlefield Vietnam 2005

DICE created Battlefield Vietnam, which was centered on the Vietnam War against the United States. Following the popularity of Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam makes a strong debut in 2004 and proves to be a successful successor.

The Ho Chinh Minh route, the Battle of Hue, La Dragon Valley, and other historical locations are used in the game’s maps. While the game uses the same game mode of capturing Control Points, the American and Vietnamese teams have different weaponry and kits to stop the American military. The American team has heavy artillery and vehicles, while the Vietnamese team has anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons to stop the American military.

In contrast to BF 1942, there are two loadouts per kit in this game. Assault, Engineer, Heavy Assault, and Scout are the four classes available. In 2005, Battlefield Vietnam was updated to include new vehicles, weaponry, maps, and a World War II mod. This was the Vietnam Battlefield: Redux

Battlefield 2 (#3)

Battlefield 2

Many players spend endless hours on this game, which is considered the apex of the Battlefield series. The multiplayer aspect of the game, when you leap into the battlefield with your team, was a lot of fun, and the battlefields were huge.

The game was exclusively accessible for PC users, i.e. Windows, and was developed by Digital Illusions CE and released by EA in 2005. In single-player mode, the game depicts a world in which a variety of nations, including the United States, China, and the fictitious Middle Eastern Coalition, are continuously at odds with one another, while multiplayer mode offers seven distinct classes to select from.

Unfortunately, the multiplayer master server was shut down in 2014, but it remains a work of art that was well ahead of its time.

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat is the fourth game in the Battlefield franchise.

Battlefield 2 Modern Combat

Modern Combat was a follow-up to Battlefield 2, but for consoles such as the Playstation 2 and Xbox. The game was first published in 2005, then an Xbox 360 upgrade with enhanced visuals was released the following year.

While the PS 2 and Xbox versions were both horribly designed, the Xbox 360 version may be compared to the Battlefield 2 PC, but it is in no way superior. Its official multiplayer servers were shut down in 2011 because it failed to achieve the same level of popularity as the other Battlefield titles.

Battlefield 2142 (#5)

Battlefield 2142

Battlefield 2142 is set in the year 2142, during what is ostensibly an Ice Age, and pits the European Union against the Pan Asian Coalition in a battle for an unfrozen continent. DICE created the game, which was released by EA in 2006.

The concept is futuristic, unlike its predecessors, and the game includes two modes: Conquest and Titan. Titan mode is a multiplayer game that looks a lot like TitanFall, except you control the Titans. It also has a Halo 3-like appearance and can accommodate up to 64 players in multiplayer mode.

In 2007, the game got an addition called the Northern Strike Booster Pack, which was set in 2145 in Central and Northern Europe and included new maps and vehicles.

It suffered a similar fate in terms of multiplayer mode when its multiplayer servers were shut down in 2014 owing to Gamespy’s closure, although the game is still playable online thanks to the community 2142 Reclamation Project.

#6. Bad Company on the Battlefield

battlefield bad companyWccftech.com is the source of this image.

Bad Company was originally designed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, however support for the Xbox One was added later when the new system was launched. This game was published by EA in 2008 and was mostly a single-player experience, but multiplayer was included in a few modes, with Gold Rush serving as the only multiplayer online option at the time.

The Gold Rush featured the typical Attackers versus Defenders configuration in multiplayer mode, which could equip up to 24 players at once. Heavy weapons may now demolish buildings, cars, and plants thanks to the game’s traditional wall demolition features created with Frostbite Engine.

Battlefield 1943 (#7)

Battlefield 1943 gameplay

Battlefield 1943 resembled the next-generation battlefield games in terms of visuals and gameplay features. This game is a lot of fun, but it didn’t make it to the PC until now. It was published in 2009 and depicted World War II fighting in 1943.

It was first launched for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, but it was subsequently updated to work with the Xbox One. It utilized Frostbite Engine for a destructible world, similar to the Bad Company. It had a conquest mode in multiplayer at first, but after the total kills by the BF 1943 community hit 43 million, it switched to Air Superiority.

This demonstrates how popular the game was, despite the fact that it was only accessible on consoles.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is ranked #8.Battlefield Bad Company 2

The aiming system in BF Bad Company 2 was built for consoles, making it simple for controller users to aim at the targets. The game was published by EA in 2010 and included simpler gameplay with fewer weapons and Rush game mode, which is still my favorite game style that I play the majority of the time.

Because of the Frostbite Engine, half of the structures and objects in a multiplayer game are destroyed halfway through. According to the majority of players, the weaponry were balanced, and the Rush mode was more than enjoyable.

The game was also subsequently published on iOS and Kindle Fire, making it one of the most widely supported Battlefield titles across platforms.

Battlefield Online (#9)

Battlefield Online

Battlefield Online was a better-looking recreation of Battlefield 2. Neowiz Games and EA collaborated on the game, which was released in 2010. The gameplay and maps are more akin to PUBG, although the visuals and gameplay are noticeably better than in the original Battlefield 2.

It was completely free to play, but it did not have the same level of popularity as the original, and it was shut down in 2013.

Battlefield Play4Free is ranked #10 in the Battlefield series.

Battlefield Play4Free

BF Play4Free is described by EA as “a deep, rich, adrenaline-fueled Battlefield all-out battle experience.” The game was released in 2011 for Windows and was totally free to play. While it’s unusual for EA to provide free games, when it did, fans anticipated Play4Free to be just as excellent as the original Battlefield 2, but with better visuals and gameplay.

Despite EA’s claims that it is an upgraded version featuring terrain from Battlefield 2 and weaponry from Bad Company 2, the gameplay remains clumsy and prone to micro-stuttering. The game does give you a nostalgic feeling, which is what it was designed to accomplish, but the mechanics turned off a lot of players.

It was fantastic for some, yet it was the worst Battlefield game ever for others.

Battlefield 3 (#11)

Battlefield 3

The first Battlefield game I ever played was Battlefield 3. I’ll never forget the feeling of not being able to strike the target as well as I could in Call of Duty games. That made me realize how unique BF was, and how, unlike COD, precise targeting was required.

Battlefield 3 may have been the greatest single-player campaign, since it was lengthy and had a deep narrative. It was the most perfect Battlefield that EA has ever created, and its multiplayer feature is still alive and well, with gamers playing all kinds of modes 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Battlefield 4 (#12)

Battlefield 4

I’ve played Battlefield 4 for many hundred hours. EA released the game in 2013 and it has been a huge success ever since. I still like the loadouts in all four sides and continue to play this wonderful game. Unlike several of the games that EA currently creates, the game had a leveling system depending on how much you played.

After obtaining some excellent stats with various weapons, you unlock additional weapons, attachments, and artillery, and after reaching each new rank, you open a drop box where you may discover attachments and tags.

Although it didn’t quite match the single-player campaign of Battlefield 3, the Frostbite Engine 3’s collapsing buildings and dams in multiplayer games astounded everyone.

Battlefield Hardline (#13).

Battlefield Hardline

Fans anticipated EA to release a completely new Battlefield two years after the release of Battlefield 4, with significant upgrades to the narrative and multiplayer modes, but many were disappointed. Even if Hardline wasn’t a terrible game, fans will be disappointed if the business gives them the same thing after two years.

Unfortunately, this game’s present condition is worse than most older games, and its multiplayer feature is almost dead, prompting many Battlefield Hardline fans to leave nasty Steam reviews.

Battlefield 1 (#14).

Battlefield 1

Battlefield 1 is the sequel to Battlefield Hardline, despite the name. The game was released in 2016 and quickly became a big hit because to its World War I theme. The game demands greater cooperation and includes World War I-era weaponry, terrain, artillery, and vehicles, making it distinct and different from previous Battlefield games.

If you have the chance, you can utilize horses and swords, and various classes, such as Assault, Medic, Support, and Scout, get to employ class-specific weaponry. On multiplayer servers, the game is still running strong, and the fans adore it.

Battlefield V (#15)

battlefield V

Battlefield V, as you would expect, is set during World War II, and you’ll be able to utilize weaponry and vehicles from that era. It is the most recent Battlefield game, having been released in 2018.

When the game was first released, it was met with considerable criticism due to the presence of a female protagonist, to which EA replied that people who don’t like it don’t purchase it. This occurred after EA’s catastrophic failure with the release of Battlefront II.

While the game had Ray Tracing and other features, it was a flop since it did not have the gameplay and modes that fans desired.

Battlefield 2042 is #16.

Battlefield 2042

EA unveiled a completely new Battlefield game, Battlefield 2042, over two decades after the release of the original Battlefield game. Battlefield 2042 takes set 100 years after the events of Battlefield 1942. This game, on the other hand, has no single-player campaign and is entirely focused on online multiplayer.

Because of the increasing rivalry in online FPS shooter games, EA is now ready to offer the “greatest Battlefield game ever,” complete with enhanced visuals, gameplay, stages, upgrades, and more. Although there is no campaign in the game, it is centered on a conflict between two superpowers, the United States and Russia, who clash in 2042 with superior artillery and weapon technologies.

According to reports, the game will include more weapon modifications and classes than ever before. The gameplay video demonstrates how much is happening in live-action and how excited fans are right now, ahead of the game’s formal release in October 2021. Let’s hoping this is the greatest battlefield game we’ve ever had, and that it can hold its own against Battlefield 4.
