Dragon Quest XI is coming to Steam and the PlayStation on September 4, 2018.

The hazardous quest of a pursued Hero must discover the mystery of his destiny with the help of a fascinating cast of supporting characters in DRAGON QUEST® XI: Echoes of an Elusive AgeTM. They start on a journey that will take them across countries and over huge seas as they learn of a global danger. In a style that combines photorealistic detail with a vast and beautiful environment, Dragon Quest XI brings a big and beautiful world to life.

As a player, you’ll need to participate in a turn-based fighting system that introduces players to combat with an approachable experience and rules that are basic enough for newcomers yet deep enough to please long-time fans or dedicated gamers. Dragon Quest XI has a plethora of side missions and mini-games that will keep you occupied for well over 100 hours without becoming bored.

Square Enix announced earlier today that Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age would be published on September 4 for PlayStation 4 and PC through Steam in the United States. This will be the first mainstream Dragon Quest game to be released digitally via Valve. Dragon Quest XI was first released in Japan in July 2017 and has already sold over 3 million copies. The role-playing game was also published on the Nintendo 3DS, but only in Japan. The game will be released on the Nintendo Switch, but no official release date has been set. This will be the first mainstream Dragon Quest game since the release of Dragon Quest IX in the United States in 2010. Dragon Quest X is a PlayStation 4, Switch, Wii U, Wii, 3DS, Android, iOS, and PC online multiplayer game that was never published outside of Japan.

The Dragon Quest series, along with Final Fantasy, was founded in 1986, making it one of the founding fathers of the JRPG genre. In Japan, the series has always been a hit. However, it never equaled the success of Final Fantasy in the United States.
