Most experienced D&D players know that running games is a lot of work even if you have the luxury of being a Dungeon Master. Even if you don’t, you probably recognize that running a successful game can be a daunting task. This is why GMs are often advocates for using proven tools to make their games easier to run. This list is a collection of tools that I’ve found useful over the years.

There are many aspects of the game that can be challenging to get done, some of which are not even sure if a DM or player will ever pull them out. This list is meant to help you get through some of those aspects, so that you can create a strong and fun game.

As a D&D player, you need a lot of tools to make your game run smoothly. With all of the third-party materials out there, it becomes hard to decide which ones to use. 5etools [GitHub]

5etools is a suite of HTML-and-JavaScript tools for players and DMs of D&D 5e. You can find and download the project on GitHub. Simply download the project as a zip, extract it all to a folder, open the .html files in a browser, and it’s ready to go!

You may also set up your own mirror or contribute to the project via GitHub. With so much Unearthed Arcana material now available, data input is greatly welcomed!

Discord is a proprietary VoIP program for gaming communities that is available for free. Microsoft Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Linux, and a web browser are all supported by Discord.
