Epic Games apologized earlier this month, on April 12th, for the Fortnite Server Outage, which affected all mobile, console, and PC services. Players were unable to join battle royale shooter matches during the outage, which Epic Games claimed was caused by a “Database Failure” and that the system will be updated with significant improvements.
Epic Games apologized and provided some incentives to players during the downtime, including ‘getting a free Back Bling gift from the game store‘ for Battle Royale players and ‘getting a free Troll Stash Llama‘ for Save the World players. A comprehensive post-mortem report with additional information on what went wrong is promised.
This week, Epic Games is giving away another freebie in the form of “20 Battle Stars,” which you can get just by logging into the game. Because obtaining battle stars necessitates completing a large number of stages in addition to completing daily and weekly challenges, it seems like Epic Games has put together a nice package of prizes. Earning battle stars unlocks two levels of advancement, and purchasing battle stars with V-bucks (the game’s premium money) is another method to get some interesting cosmetic items.
However, there is a catch: if you have already maxed all your Season 3 Tiers, 20 Battle Stars will accomplish nothing to advance your game. Even so, since it’s a free game, it’s well worth the money. Another nice gesture that seems to be cool enough is ‘Double XP,’ which allows gamers to begin playing from today and receive 2XP over the weekend.
