Gearbox Software today announced it has permanently shut down Battleborn servers. Gearbox announced the decision to shut down servers for the Battleborn game on its official Battleborn forum . The game will no longer be available for purchase from the Battleborn game page on Steam and will not be playable. Gearbox is working hard on ways to give players the options to play Battleborn in the future.

Gearbox Software has shut down all Battleborn servers worldwide for good. The servers were shut down at 11 AM PT after an update to the game was issued that locked players out of the multiplayer mode. “As Gearbox is working to support the game, it has become clear that the game is not sustainable at this time and we have made the decision to shut it down,” said Gearbox president Randy Pitchford in a statement. “Most of the team has shifted to work on Gearbox’s next project.”

This was done in response to key issues such as game crashes, stability issues, and the fact that the game has become overly dependent on updates.
