So, there’s a lot to love about the Kingdom Hearts series. It’s a good thing for all you KH fans out there that this series has millions of hours of content to show for it. And while that may be true, there are some pretty cool things in the worlds of Kingdom Hearts that are worth talking about. Those being the Keyblades.

Kingdom Hearts is one of the most interesting game series of all time, and that’s because of its characters. In the Kingdom Hearts series, Sora, Riku, and Kairi are trapped in a world full of terrible creatures known as the Heartless. These Heartless are the cause of all the pain and suffering the protagonists have to go through in order to save the worlds. They also have keys that can be found and used by playing through the games.

As the keyblade, or Kingdom Hearts Keyblade, has evolved from being a simple weapon into an elaborate symbol of friendship, what’s the best one to use while saving the world from darkness? That’s what this list is all about, and g15tools will have you ready to take on whatever the fight throws at you.

Have you ever had that one individual who always seemed to steal the show from the rest of the group? That one brilliant, popular kid in class who usually spoke up first and was the first to answer the teacher’s question? Have you ever felt that you weren’t the favored child and that your parents would choose the other child over you? So now you know what it’s like to wield a Keyblade in a Kingdom Hearts game. It has always been the Ultima weapon….. While there are other Keyblades with more power or magic, the Ultima is always the ideal combination of the two. So, in order to assist all of the world’s peaceful children, I’ve created a Keyblade tier list that excludes any of the Ultima weapons. I’ll start by noting that these are only from the “.5” versions of the games; not all of the blades are unique to them, but a few are, so I wanted to make that clear. The Keyblades will be the greatest in Strength and Magic from each game, unless they are tied in the same stat with another Keyblade, in which case the victor will be determined by the other stat. So, without further ado, here are the best of the rest from all of the major Kingdom Hearts games.

1.5 of Kingdom Hearts

So the Divine Rose Keyblade is the winner of the Strength category in Kingdom Hearts 1.5! DR comes in at a massive 13 Strength, a staggering level of strength but yet falls short of this game’s Ultima weapon. While it has no effect on the magic, who cares when you’re bashing Heartless with this (ironically) monstrous weapon? It’s easy to get; just talk to Belle in the Library after closing the keyhole in Hollow Bastion, and you’ll receive this magnificent “Beauty and the Beast” themed sword.

kh-lady-luck-1

We now have the Lady Luck Keyblade in the Magic category! This Final Mix unique weapon adds two to your magic bar, which may not sound like much today, but it was a big deal in the original Kingdom Hearts, effectively stacking additional damage to your spells while also giving you two new spell uses. If it gives you any perspective, LL matches the Ultima sword Magic for Magic, so maybe it tells you that this Lady Luck is just as powerful as the actual one. After defeating Riku for the first time at Hollow Bastion and gaining the ability to execute White Trinities returns to Wonderland and trigger the Trinity concealed in the Lotus Forest, this Keyblade is easy to overlook.

2.5 Kingdom Hearts

kh2-fenrir

Now, our KH 2.5 winner, the Fenrir blade, a famously powerful Keyblade that can only be obtained via an equally legendary boss battle, continues the tradition of defeating the Ultima in sheer strength. The strength is obvious here, with 7 Strength defeating the Ultima weapons’ 6 Strength, but you must be Sephiroth, the Final Fantasy figure turned ruthless KH monster, to get it. The fight isn’t unlocked until right before the game’s last battle, but this sword is well worth the wait.

kh2-winners-proof-3

The Magic Keyblades have finally had their day, with Winner’s Proof taking first place in the Magic category with an outrageously high score of 7 Magic, greatly surpassing the Ultima weapons’ 4 Magic and even the second best Magic Keyblade Fatal Crest’s 5 Magic. The cost of the additional magic is that you get no experience while using WP, and the technique for obtaining it is also very difficult. You must complete all of the Mushroom XIII trials to get this magical creature, and good luck with that; the Mushrooms are buried throughout KH2 and come with some pretty difficult tasks attached to them; there’s a reason you need evidence of your success here.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is the third installment in the Kingdom Hearts series.

KH-3-nano-gear

So this is the game that makes this list so difficult since the greatest Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts 3 is a personal choice, but I have to yield to facts because I’m trying to be objective on this list. That is why the Nano Gear Keyblade earns the top position on our list for Strength. At a respectable 10 Strength when maxed out, it still falls short of the Ultimas insane 13, but that doesn’t mean it’s a Keyblade to ignore. What makes this Keyblade unique is its ability to combine techniques from several Keyblade combinations without requiring the usage of a third combo set. While my personal favorite is the appropriately titled Favorite Deputy, it lacks the strength of Nano Gear, so our Big Hero 6 themed Keyblade retains the title. To that end, finishing the Big Hero 6 world towards the conclusion of the game is the only way to get this Keyblade. Simple enough, right?

KH-3-classic-tone

Finally, the Classic Tone Keyblade, which has the most magic in the whole game, including the Ultima weapon, rounds out our list. This iconic Disney-inspired Keyblade has two form changes, from a cartoonish hammer to a clock-based drill, with the hammer doing a lot of damage but at a slower pace and the drill excelling at dealing a lot of damage to a single target.

So there you have it: the greatest Keyblades from the three Kingdom Hearts games. If you believe we missed your favorite Keyblade and that this list should be updated, please let us know. Please let us know!

I love Kingdom Hearts. I’ve been playing the games for over a decade now. I’m a big fan of the series. It’s a bit silly, a bit quirky, a bit corny. But at its heart, the games are always about friendship and family, which is why I want to share today the best keyblades in the series..
