Amnesia the Dark Descent is a unique game, which in itself is an odd thing to say. After all, there are many games about being trapped in a dark place. The second thing to say about Amnesia is that it is the first game where the main character is not meant to be a character. You are meant to be a presence in a space, one that haunts the player and chases him through the game. It is a video game masquerading as a horror story.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a first-person horror game that involves exploring a dark castle. The game is a remake of the original Amnesia: The Dark Descent and is set in the same castle. The player is cast into the castle following a car accident, and must search the castle for clues to escape.

Getting Monsters to Go Away
Instead of attempting to flee when the music changes and you hear the sound of a monster wandering about, just locate a closet, unlock the doors, and hide inside. The monster should enter and search at this point, and if it is unable to locate you, it should walk away and vanish. You may now freely explore without fear of being pursued or killed by the monster.
Mode of cheating
Note: This method will require altering a game file; make a backup copy of the file beforehand. Edit the current saved game file for your profile in the “My DocumentsAmnesiaMain” directory using a text editor. To enable the appropriate cheat function, look for the following lines and modify their values as specified. Note: In the saved game file, only modify the values under the “cLuxPlayer SaveData” node.

- Password for “Super Secret.rar”
To access the “Super Secret.rar” file in the “redist” subdirectory of the game directory, you’ll need a password. In each of the three ending scenes, the password is disclosed in-game. Each ending exposes a portion of the password. “lke271tyr299odn314” is the full password.

Amnesia The Dark Descent has been out for a while now, but I have still yet to play it. You see, I’ve always been kind of scared of the game, so I have always avoided it. Now, however, I have seen it at a little game store I frequent, and I have since decided that I really need to play it. But, I’ve got a terrible fear of dying.
