Intel has discontinued its quad-core Kaby Lake-X processors, which were released in August of 2017. The company is instead focusing on the six-core Coffee Lake chips for gaming PCs.

Intel has recently discontinued its quad-core Kaby Lake-X processors. This is a great loss for the PC gaming community, as these processors were some of the best that Intel had to offer. Read more in detail here: intel i7.

Intel has discontinued its quad-core Kaby Lake-X CPUs before the 12-month mark, in what has turned out to be one of its most significant choices. Kaby Lake processors, like multi-core Skylake CPUs, represent the optimized phase of the newer “process-architecture-optimization” mode, and Microsoft officially supports Kaby Lake on PCs running Windows 10 per support rules.

The chip’s End of Life (EOL) status has been disclosed by the business. The Core i5-7640X and Core i7-7740X processors have been discontinued, according to a statement, with end-of-line dates in a document. Because the chips were capable of providing extremely remarkable overclocking performance, they were developed with the marketing plan in mind. The rationale for Intel’s decision to end production of the chips was owing to low sales and the market’s reaction.

According to the documentation, “market demand for the goods indicated in the ‘Products Affected/Intel Ordering Codes’ tables below has moved to other Intel products,” which means Kaby Lake-X processors will be replaced by 8th-gen Coffee Lake CPUs.

Experts advise against purchasing the Intel Core i5-7640X and Core i7-7740X, which are still available on Amazon, since Skylake-X and 8th-gen Core processors, as well as AMD Ryzen and Threadripper chips, have already surpassed them. Instead of going for a high-end model, go for the Core i7-8700K, which costs $350 on Amazon, or, if you prefer AMD, the Ryzen 2700X.
